Happy New Year, MTEA! After a wonderful conference at NYU last weekend, I'm so excited and inspired to start creating the next phase of this organization with you all. Our Saturday "Grow for Me" session prompted many wonderful ideas for growing MTEA, and your executive board is setting out to start implementing these initiatives immediately in the new year. Currently, we are in discussions with Tony Howell of Get Creative Social Media on a re-brand/website overhaul. We are also building a team including Jacob Brent (Shenandoah), Natalie Pitchford (The Lovett School), and VP Boyle (USC) on our communications system, both internal and external. Stay tuned for updates as we launch the new face of MTEA.
Best regards,
Jonathan Flom, President, Musical Theatre Educators Alliance
MTEA Initiatives for 2017 include a website overhaul; new membership options; and many new member benefits, so stay tuned!
CREATING THE FUTURE OF MUSICAL THEATRE
The Musical Theater Educators’ Alliance is a forum for discussion for musical theater teachers and administrators.
We are committed to promoting the highest standards in the education and training of musical theatre performers, teachers, coaches, and consultants for all performance media. We serve teachers and administrators who teach students in professional musical theater training programs.
MTEA provides a discussion platform for the exchange of ideas about training musical theatre professionals. We share solutions for curricular, production, recruitment and placement questions; broaden visibility; and strengthen credibility for training professionals in the academic and professional arenas. MTEA makes available services, publications, programs, meetings, and other activities designed to meet the needs of professional musical theatre trainers and educators.
We meet as an organization each year in rotating locations. Recent conferences have been held in Oslo, St. Louis, New York, Austin, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and Australia. We are looking forward to our next conference in ORLANDO, FL (University of Central Florida) JANUARY 5-7, 2018.
